Located on the un-spoilt Lizard Island off the coast of Far North Queensland, this new cottage sensitively and intelligently responds to its World Heritage-listed site. A National Park covering 1,013 hectares with 24 sandy beaches and a lagoon, Lizard Island is accessible only by private charter from Cairns Airport in northern Queensland, Australia.
Lizard Island is truly secluded from the rest of the world and is located directly on the Great Barrier Reef.
It is home to a luxurious resort and the Lizard Island Research Station, a coral reef research facility that is owned and operated by the Australian Museum. It is a world-leading supplier of on-reef facilities for coral reef research and education and attracts coral reef researchers, including postgraduate students from all over the world, who are busy conducting about 100 different research projects each year.
